The Clarion Investment Approach
Before accepting the management of a client’s investments Clarion seeks an understanding of their attitude to risk using a straightforward questionnaire. Based on the belief that diversification provides better long term performance we operate a multi-asset approach which can mean the asset allocation in our portfolios is quite different to models compiled using more traditional methods.
This approach provides an opportunity for us as managers to mould your investments to best suit your objectives, making changes as opportunities arise and unconstrained by unwieldy and inflexible asset allocation constraints. Over time, we aim to reduce volatility and by careful investment selection to generate better returns.
We recognise that certain managers are better at generating performance and look to create portfolios that blend the talents of the best management resources available using individuals and teams who have the skill and flexibility to back their convictions and are not benchmark led, complementing our style of asset allocation.
Clarion adopts an active approach but our strategies are usually based on a small number of key decisions. This is important; it allows clarity in determining whether or not we are positioned correctly. In our experience complex strategies often fail to deliver.
This approach to investment is applied across our entire discretionary client base and also to the sub-funds of the EFA Clarion Portfolio OEIC, meaning that it can be accessed conveniently for smaller investments and across an array of products and platforms.
